Anna Karenina was a very beautiful and intelligent woman who lived in the Imperial Russia in 1874. Sadly she was a victim of prejudices of that times. Women were not allowed to divorce, or to choose their husbands. Very young girls were forced to marry much older men, and marriages were arranged between their parents, without even know each other.
