They arrive in silence and darkness. They descend from the skies. They have hunger for human flesh. They are everywhere. They are parasites, alien creatures who to survive must invade – and take control of – a human host. Once they have infected their victims, they can assume any deadly form they choose – monsters with giant teeth, winged demons, creatures with blades for hands – but most have chosen to conceal their lethal purpose behind ordinary human faces. So no one knows their secret – except an ordinary high school student. Shin is battling for control of his own body against an alien parasite, but can he find a way to warn humanity of the horrors to come?

Serien består av åtta eller tio delar beroende på utgåva.

Utdrag ur boken:
The mince-meat murders mutilated bodies were being found all over the world. They were concentrated in large cities, population centers... But the identity of the ''enemy'' – people had already stopped using ''killer'' – remained a mystery. Except for one boy...
Shin: ...... You're sure it's them?
Migi: Positive. I knew it when I saw the dog. If [the parasite] is hosted by a dog, it only eats dogs. If it's hosted by a human, then it eats humans. A new life-form that eats only its own kind.
Shin: ...
Migi: What are you thinking?
Shin: Should I... tell someone? Well, I can't just ignore them. People are dying.
Migi: You can't ignore them?
Shin: Look, we're the only ones who know the truth! And the number of victims is growing every day! So... So... If I tell the world about you, and let them study you...
Migi: What are you saying? I don't follow your logic. My kind are just feeding. Perfectly natural behavior for any life-form. Is it objectionable to you that members of you species are being eaten?
Shin: OF COURSE IT IS! Human life is precious!
Migi: I don't understand. Only your own life I precious. I've never valued any life besides my own.
Shin: Of course not. You're an animal. An insect.
Migi: You mean that as an insult? Shinichi, if you attempt anything that will cause me harm, I will do everything I can to stop you.
Shin: Oh, yeah? You think you can survive without me, parasite?
Migi: I will keep you alive...but you won't be able to speak.
Shin: !!
Migi: I could also take away your sight and hearing.
Shin: EEP...
Migi: Wow, I really frightened you. You should rest.
Shin: DEMON!
