Eleven-year-old, motherless Alice decides she needs a gorgeous role model who does everything right; and when placed in homely Mrs. Plotkins's class she is greatly disappointed until she discovers it's what people are inside that counts.


Alice McKinley's mother died when Alice was only four, and now that she's eleven, she's struggling to find a female role model to help her in her teen years. Her father and older brother try to help, but Alice needs a woman. Could it really be that her new teacher, homely Mrs. Plotkin, is the one to help her?
