To read this book in English gave a greater depth to the story. I have read it in Swedish a few years ago.

The Babtist family suffer severe hardship in the Belgian Congo because of the stubborn and in my eyes crazed fanatic father Nathan Price. He who thinks the most important thing is to try to baptize uncomprehending African children. That the family suffered and were short of food, he did not even notice. After reading the book, I can understand how idiotic this missionary was.
The novel contains many historical facts and that makes it very interesting to read. I thought it was a very good reading.
