This book is great in doubble meaning. It has a lot of pages and it's good reading. The anguish and pain that Zala Spencer will experience when she realizes that her missing teenage son Sonny may be among the murdered children can almost be experienced while reading this book. Zala struggles to get the police to realize that they have to search for her son. It is not easy in a society where racial prejudices and class differences rule.
Toni Morrison writes that this book is * A magnum opsus *, and I agree.
